Field of the Invention The present invention relates generally to liquid crystal display (LCD) devices, and more particularly, to a fringe field switching (FFS) LCD device in which a space between a common electrode and an organic light emitting diode (OLED) device is maintained at a constant level in a fringe field switching mode. 2. Description of the Related Art Recently, much research has been conducted to replace a cathode ray tube (CRT) with a flat panel display (FPD) device. The FPD device is characterized in that it is relatively thin and lightweight. As such, the FPD device is being widely utilized in monitors for notebook computers and desktop computers, as well as in television sets. Conventional liquid crystal display (LCD) devices are typically driven by the electric field where the electric field is vertically applied between a common electrode and a pixel electrode. A TFT-LCD device is usually driven in such a manner that the orientation of the liquid crystal molecules in each pixel is changed by controlling the electric field applied between the pixel electrode and the common electrode to display images. However, the TFT-LCD device has a disadvantage in that it is difficult to make the structure thinner than that of the CRT because of its complicated fabrication process. On the other hand, the LCD device including an organic light emitting diode (OLED) device has recently been actively studied and developed. OLED devices are self-emitting devices that have a high response speed, are light-weight, and have excellent emission characteristics. Thus, the OLED device is attracting great attention as a next generation display device. The LCD device including an OLED device is driven in the twisted nematic (TN) mode in which a liquid crystal molecule is aligned in parallel to a substrate, and in the in-plane switching (IPS) mode in which a liquid crystal molecule is aligned in a direction substantially parallel to the substrate. In the TN mode, the liquid crystal molecule is aligned in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of rubbing, which is aligned on an alignment film.
